Terran Marine Counters in Sc2

Terran marine corps are a good throughout unit along with a staple for a lot of Terran armies, but being that they are small they've some hard counters which will remove them very fast if you are not careful. They're an easy unit and pack in pretty tightly, so watch out for models which do splash damage.

Zerg Counters

Banelings will rip through marine corps like they are nothing, each overflowing ling is going to do about 35 damage within the radius. Which means just 2 banelings can inflate an entire pack of marine corps. Plus when banelings die they explode, so if they're near your marine corps whatsoever they will cause some serious damage.

Terran Marine Counters in Sc2

Cockroaches are another unit which will handily destroy your marine pressure. They are doing 16 damage per shot, so just 3 hits will kill a non-upgraded marine. Plus cockroaches possess a whopping 145 existence and 1 armor so right from the gate they're only taking 5 dmg per marine shot. Marine corps do shoot faster, but a roach will take in 29 shots from marine corps in comparison to the 3 that it requires to get rid of the marine.

Protoss Counters

Zealots can make short work of marine corps in early game, getting 150 hewlett packard (roughly) and doing 16 damage per hit. They may be kited for those who have good micro, but it can be hard as it takes only 3 hits to kill a marine. While you progress just a little farther, several marine corps with stim, combat shield and medivac support can roast zealots before they can achieve your marine corps.

The greatest counter to marine corps the protoss have would be the dreaded Colossi. These models are massive siege models that may shoot from far (range 9 upgraded) and perform some major splash damage. Only a couple of of those things could make short work of several marine corps.

Terran Counters

Terrans in addition have a couple of models which do great against marine corps. Siege tanks would be the most harmful to some large number of marine corps. 1 tank in siege mode will 1 shot several marine corps when they not have the combat shield upgrade. And so they can shoot from a variety of 13, that will decimate your marine corps before they can get close enough to obtain a shot off in the tank.

The Terran Thor is yet another pretty hard counter to marine corps. Doing 60 damage per shot, they'll 1 shot a marine even when they're upgraded using the combat shield. Plus Thors have a lot of hewlett packard (400) and 1 armor to begin with, to allow them to take in lots of marine fire.

An military composed of just marine corps would clearly have a hard time winning the overall game for you personally, but as lengthy as they are being used sensibly, marine corps could be a great resource for your military in early and late action in Sc2. Like other models in Sc2, marine corps perform best when there's other models plus they might help one another out.
